Christmas Traditions

Christmas brings out traditions in many people. I remember when we were first married, Gary and I started traditions of our own. I love them! One tradition we have with our children (and one that they love) is the Christmas advent calendar. Mamaw Beard started and created our first one. She filled each pocket with goodies for the kids. Since that time, we have mixed it up, but they always enjoy coming down the stairs each morning and opening their "pocket." Many of the pockets this year hold cards with different activities that we will do. These pictures are from our "let's build a gingerbread house today" card. The gingerbread house, in my opinion, does not taste that great, but it is great fun to create! So, a new tradition begins :)

Oh my, I grew up with advent calendars! Mom always bought one each December with...chocolate! I looked forward to EVERY DAY in December.

The gingerbread house looks really good, I think. It's a great new tradition!

I would so eat that! All of it! Are you coming to Rockford for Christmas?

No, I will not be making it to Rockford for Christmas this year :( I will not miss the snow, but I will miss all of you. I hope to be able to be out some time in the spring/summer.

Michelle, you are such a great mom! We have an advent calendar, but the little openings are too small for FIVE pieces of candy :) The "activity" cards are great ideas!

The gingerbread house looks great!

It's always great to do activities with your kids. You do such a great job. It's one way of teaching them to work together.

I agree with you on the taste of a gingerbread house. Never cared for it.
