Happy Birthday to Wesley......

Wesley celebrated his eighth birthday today! He asked me this morning, "Can you believe that I am 8?" In a way, yes! Life without Wesley seems like a very long time ago. But then again, it does seem scary when I think about him being in third grade in the fall. It was the summer after my second grade year of school that I developed diabetes. I thank God every day for this strong and very healthy young man. (Is it appropriate to call an 8-yr. old a young man???) The day was full of fun. Wesley had a friend from school over to spend the night. Wesley enjoys the tradition of going to Toys 'R Us to pick out a toy (Thanks, Aunt Kari) and then to Chuck E. Cheese for pizza and tons of games. He is enjoying his scooter and skateboard. I am wondering if this is the beginning of a long road....now, on the wheels and later behind the wheel :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ONE AND ONLY FIRST BORN!!! WE SURE DO LOVE YOU, WESLEY!!!!!!

We lost part of Andrew :)

Yesterday, we had play group at the beach. Brooke spent most of the time in the sand, and Wesley spent most of the time in the water. Now, Andrew, well he spent much of his time buried. After he was buried the first time, he asked me to go get Wesley. I went to the water and got Wesley, "Wesley, have you seen Andrew? Come help me look for him." Wesley proceeded to come up to the beach and looked around but couldn't find him. "Where is he?" Wesley asked, with great concern. I pointed over to the side of Wesley; Wesley took one look and screamed and then both he and Andrew started laughing.

The best part of making brownies!

What is the best part of making brownies? Well, if you ask these three kids, they will tell you that it is definitely licking the bowl! They all get their own spoon and dig into the bowl. This, of course, is after I have already poured the batter into a pan. I didn't think one could make such a mess with such little bit of remaining batter, but Brooke didn't miss a lick :)

Everyone needs a clean car!

Wesley and Andrew were planning to spend some time swimming at the neighbor's home; however, when plans changed, I put them to work :) We all got to do the rinsing, washing, and drying, but Wesley and Andrew were the most appropriately dressed!
