Graduation at Ventura College

Well, the end of the school year is here for me. I love what I do, but I also look forward to summer break. I will be teaching night courses at summer school, later in June, but for now, I am on summer vacation. It was a memorable time yesterday at the graduation ceremony on our campus. This was the first time that I have been involved in graduation ceremonies, particularly since receiving my master's degree. I was not use to the master's regalia, but I did like it. Yeah, light blue for the mathematics field. The top picture above is most of the full-time math instructors at VC. We are a crazy crew, and we work together extremely well. I love the group that I work with and the students whose lives we touch, nearly every day. Here's to you, class of 2008..... and here's to a good summer break!

Hurray! Summer break. ENJOY!

What are the four black strips on the sleeve shown in the group picture?

The black stripes on the gown signifies a person with their doctorate degree. The guy who is wearing it is the youngest one in our department and the only one with his doctorate.

I, um, never thought of math teachers as being a "crazy crew," but I will now, thanks to you! You look great - and I'm glad you get to enjoy the summer, you California girl!

Happy Summer Break!
Maybe you'll be able to squeeze in a family vacation in there somewhere. Enjoy!
